The Opportunity
REC is seeking a Hydraulic/Hydrology Engineer & Project Manager to lead public infrastructure and flood control projects throughout the Southwest.
This role is ideal for a licensed PE who enjoys technical modeling, project leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and managing projects from concept through completion.
Technical Responsibilities
Develop and analyze 1D and 2D stormwater models using HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, and FLO-2D
Support FEMA permitting efforts and navigate local drainage and floodplain regulations
Oversee drainage design and construction plan development utilizing AutoCAD
Manage geospatial and mapping data using ArcGIS and QGIS
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to EITs and junior staff
Conduct field investigations and prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders
Project Management Responsibilities
Lead projects to successful completion while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders
Identify and implement process improvements and innovative engineering solutions
Monitor project performance metrics and assist with resource planning and staffing
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Arizona PE registration preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity
5+ years of drainage, stormwater, or hydraulic/hydrologic engineering experience
Experience with construction methods, specifications, and design implementation
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with Phoenix-area drainage criteria and regulations is highly preferred
Additional Requirements
Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds during site visits
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
